Homeowner shoots possible suspect in home invasion
PORT ARTHUR - Port Arthur police are trying to determine if a shooting victim who was critically injured is one of several attackers that broke into a home and held the people inside at gunpoint while robbing them.
Someone called 911 at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday to report shots fired in the 300 block of 9th Street. Only about two minutes later police received a second call from the 900 block of 10th Street reporting a shooting victim who'd been injured at another location.
Officers spoke with a resident of the home in the 300 block of 9th Street. Police were told three men forced their way into the home and held several people at gunpoint. The attackers began taking items from the home, and as they were leaving, a resident fired at least one shot at the robbers.
According to police, evidence at the scene led officers to believe the attackers fired back at the resident. Police believe the person found shot in the 900 block of 10th Street was a possible suspect in the home invasion.
The person was taken to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth and was listed in critical condition.
