After a few small showers pushed just north of the lakes, a quiet, but nice rest of the day is expected. Highs today will reach the lower 70's, under partly cloudy skies. Tonight will usher in the mid 50's for lows. Partly cloudy skies are back for Saturday and Easter Sunday, with highs warming to the upper 70's.
Mother arrested following preliminary autopsy on 2-year-old
CHAMBERS COUNTY - Authorities in Chambers County have arrested a mother following an autopsy on her 2-year-old daughter.
Jennifer Lynn Poole was arrested this morning in Winnie. Poole is accused of injury to a child by omission, which is a first degree felony.
A preliminary autopsy showed Poole's 2-year-old daughter Daisy had internal and external injuries.
Poole's 23-year-old fiancee was arrested Sunday and charged in the child's murder. Kristopher Redd is behind bars on a $1 million bond.
Another child at the home was placed in protective custody.

Chambers County Sheriff's Office
Sheriff Hawthorne reports that the Jefferson County Medical Examiner on January 21, 2014 completed a preliminary autopsy on the step-daughter of Kristopher James Redd. Redd has been charged with capital murder in her death. The autopsy was attended by the Chambers County Criminal Investigators and the Chambers County District Attorney.
The Medical Examiner's findings determined that the 2-year-old victim had injuries in various stages of healing, both internally and externally. Based on the information obtained from the autopsy and other information obtained by investigators, the child's mother Jennifer Lynn Poole has been arrested for Injury To A Child By Omission which is a Felony in the 1st Degree.
