Argument leads to Beaumont shooting death

BEAUMONT - An argument led to a shooting death in Beaumont and now police are releasing the name of the man who was killed.

When police arrived at a home in the 5600 block of Lancaster Lane Monday night they said 26-year-old Emanuel Burleigh was dead at the end of the driveway near the street. He had a gunshot wound to his upper chest.

Witnesses told police Burleigh and another man had argued earlier in the day at another location. Burleigh went to the home Monday night and according to police after a struggle the other man fired a shot at Burleigh.

The man who fired the shot gave a statement to police. They did not arrest him. When police finish the investigation they will turn over the  case to the district attorney's office.
