Project is underway to improve Beaumont traffic flow

A multi-million dollar project to improve the flow of traffic in Beaumont was underway Monday night.

Preliminary work for the ramp reversal on Highway 69 was scheduled to begin Sunday night but rain delayed the start.

The Texas Department of Transportation is closing the northbound right lane near I-10 and Highway 69 from nine tonight until five tomorrow morning.

Other preliminary work in the area will take place during the same hours this week to put temporary pavement on the shoulders.

The $27 million project will take about two years. The goal is to improve the traffic flow from I-10 and Highway 69 to Highway 105.
