PA appoints acting city manager after Floyd Johnson leaves

PORT ARTHUR - Port Arthur City Council has approved a separation agreement with city manager Floyd Johnson and appointed an acting city manager while council prepares to search for a permanent replacement.

Council appointed assistant city manager John Comeaux acting city manager Monday morning after council okayed the separation agreement and Johnson signed it. Johnson leaves after serving as city manager since July 2012.

The agreement calls for the city to pay Johnson six months salary and to pay him for unused vacation and sick leave, as well as contribute to a retirement fund of his choice. The City Attorney's Office says the amount totals a little more than $100,000.

During its regular meeting Tuesday council is expected to name an interim city manager while it begins the search for a permanent replacement.
