Judge John Paul Davis dies
JEFFERSON COUNTY - Judge John Paul Davis died Monday morning at a hospital after he was found with no vital signs at his home, according to information County Judge Jeff Branick provided to KFDM News Monday morning.

Beaumont Fire Rescue responded to the call shortly after 9 a.m. Monday at Judge Davis' home on Roberts Avenue. Paramedics transported Judge Davis to a hospital where he died.
Branick said Davis appeared to be in good health when he last saw him.
Davis served more than 20 years as judge of County Court at Law #3. He wasn't running for reelection. He was the first African-American judge in Jefferson County and the first in Beaumont when he served as Chief Magistrate of Beaumont Municipal Court.
Judge Davis was 74.
