Fire destroys Jasper home
JASPER - by Steve W Stewart/KJAS and Rayburn Broadcasting Company
A Jasper family is homeless after flames destroyed their residence over the weekend. The fire broke out at about 8:30 Sunday morning at 111 Sandefer Street, in the north end of town.
Jasper Police were first to arrive at the scene and they reported that the double-wide mobile home was already fully engulfed.
According to Fire Marshal Mike Collier, the homeowner, Florinda Greer, along with her two children and two foster children, had left the home about an hour before the blaze broke out.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation; however, Collier said the preliminary cause of the fire is being blamed on a clothes dryer which was left running.
