Tyler County Sheriff's Office releases additional information in death of 3-year-old boy
TYLER COUNTY - Additional information has been released in what the Tyler County Sheriff's Office says appears to be the accidental drowning of a 3-year-old boy.
The Tyler County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a call Monday reporting that a 3-year-old had fallen into a septic hole being dug and that the child was not breathing, according to a news release.
Family members were performing CPR on the child and EMS was notified as well as Tyler County deputies, the news release stated.
Communications was notified that the family would meet EMS personnel at the Dollar General Store in Warren and EMS transported the 3-year-old boy to the hospital.
The child was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m. and Judge Trisher Ford ordered an autopsy.
Family members told deputies that a hole was dug for a septic tank and it had filled up with water during the recent rain. Deputies were told that a family member was outside with the 3-year-old child, a 1-year-old, and a 2-year-old child as well.
A family member told investigators that the 1-year-old was taken inside and the family member returned to find the 3-year-old child missing.
Authorities learned that the family members later found the child in the septic tank hole. The child was not breathing and the family members began performing CPR.
Tyler County Sheriff's Office investigators processed the scene at the residence off of County Road 1325 in Warren and at this time it appears to be accidental.
Investigators will wait on final autopsy results to complete the investigation. Standard in this type of case, child protective services investigators were notified.
Name of the victim as well as family members are not being released at this time due to trouble locating other family members out of state.
