13-year-old hurt after several shots fired at Beaumont home
BEAUMONT - Beaumont Police are trying to find a gunman who was outside a home and fired several shots into the house, injuring a 13-year-old boy who was sleeping in a back bedroom.
According to Sgt. Rob Flores, patrol officers responded to a reported shooting at a house in the 4700 block of Carnegie at about 4:30 a.m.
The 911 Communications Center received a call from a female inside the house who stated that someone outside the house fired several shots into the house. One of the shots struck a 13-year-old teen that was sleeping in a back bedroom. Beaumont EMS transported the injured teen to St. Elizabeth ER where doctors treated him for a superficial cut to the left side of his face. ER personnel then discharged the teen into the care and custody of his mother.
Officers determined that multiple gunshots were fired. They also determined that a green or possibly blue hatchback or crossover type vehicle was seen in the neighborhood just prior to the shooting. Detectives are working to determine if that vehicle is related to the shooting.
They are asking that any person who has information about the shooting, or the possible identity of the occupants of that vehicle, call 880-3840 with information. Callers can also contact Crime Stoppers at 833-TIPS and leave an anonymous tip.
