Home Builders Association of Southeast Texas calls for resignation of BISD board, superintendent

The Home Builders Association of Southeast Texas issued a news release Thursday calling for the resignation of the BISD Board of Trustees and the superintendent.

News release from Home Builders Association:

The Homebuilders Association of Southeast Texas supported the school bond in hopes of seeing new construction brought to the area along with it new schools and improved facilities. The Association entrusted BISD that they would properly manage taxpayer funds.

Along with the Beaumont Board of Realtors and the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, the Home Builders Association supports the call for resignations of Dr. Timothy Chargois and the BISD Board of Trustees due to their failure in properly managing and monitoring the districts finances and in turn violating the TEAs Education Code.

The areas building industry has felt the impact of their mistakes. In 2013, the City of Beaumont ranked last in Texas for new construction permits issued. The Home Builders Association feels these changes must occur in order to salvage an already damaged reputation and to re-affirm that our children are not just receiving the best education within our community and a great place to reside but, throughout the State of Texas.

We fully support the area teachers and principals who do a terrific job in making BISD a great place to live to newcomers. We join in the fight to help rebuild our community.
