Highway 73 reopens
UPDATE: The westbound lane of Highway 73 is now open.
A crash on Highway 73 near Highway 124 sent one Bridge City man to the hospital and closed part of the highway, according to a Department of Public Safety spokesperson.
Deputies said the accident involved a 2003 International truck tractor semi-trailer traveling westbound on Hwy 73 in the inside lane and a 2012 Dodge truck towing several cars also going west on Hwy 73.
Investigators said the driver of the Dodge truck made an unsafe lane change to the inside lane of the highway. The driver of the truck tractor moved to the left, hitting the Dodge truck and continuing into the median and the eastbound lanes of Hwy 73. The truck tractor overturned and started leaking diesel fuel.
Deputies said first responders took Joseph Flannigan of Bridge City, the driver of the truck tractor, to Christus Hospital St.Elizabeth in Beaumont with minor injuries. Clinton Page of LaPorte, the driver of the pick-up truck, was not injured.
Investigators said they cited Page for changing lanes when unsafe.
Highway 73 is closed at the crash location.
