Hamshire-Fannett ISD to announce Friday where it plans to put students displaced by school fire
HAMSHIRE-FANNETT - The Hamshire-Fannet school district plans to announce Friday what it intends to do with the more than 500 elementary school students who have been out of school since Tuesday due to fire that heavily damaged their school.
During the early morning on Tuesday, the fire burned the school's front office, the nurse's office and several classrooms. It also caused part of the school's roof to collapse.
Investigators have been unable to enter the building to try to discover what sparked the fire due to concerns for safety and asbestos levels.
The chief of the Labelle-Fannett Volunteer Fire Department says the fire started back up around 8 a.m. Thursday. Firefighters were able to put it out within an hour.
