Galveston ferry service now open 24/7

GALVESTON BAY - Ferry service between Bolivar and Galveston is now up and running -- day and night and seven days a week following an oil spill on Saturday.

About 170,000 gallons spilled into Galveston Bay when a barge carrying oil hit a ship.

The cleanup will take some time, and travelers should use caution as oily conditions may still exist.

The Coast Guard is increasing efforts to clean oil in several ports because of expected rain that could delay clean up efforts.
