First day in new headquarters for Lumberton Municipal Utility District

The men and women who manage Lumberton's water supply are completing a milestone Monday night. They're finishing up their first day in a new state-of-the art headquarters.

The Lumberton Municipal Utility District says the building includes equipment few other utility districts have in this area, a cistern.

Rainwater will collect in the holding tank and the district will use it for landscaping and to wash the utility's trucks. District Manager Roger Fussell told KFDM News the utility wants to be good stewards of the environment.

The manager says the energy-efficient building is critical to the fast growing community.

The new building is on Farm Road 421 just off Highway 69 in Lumberton.
