A dry weather pattern will continue for the next few days with below normal temperatures. In fact, scattered frost can be expected Sunday morning over the Lakes Area. A warming trend will begin early next week with a good coverage of showers and thunderstorms by the middle and later part of next week.
Statement from YES Prep Southwest on drowning death
The Hardin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a drowning that occurred Tuesday at Village Creek State Park near Lumberton.
Terumah Terry Onoja Ams, 18, was part of a group of students from a Houston charter school spending their spring break performing volunteer work at Village Creek State Park, according to Lumberton police.
The students had taken a break to swim in the creek when one of the boys went under and didn't come back up.
Personnel with several Hardin County agencies searched the waters and a Texas game warden discovered the teen's body around 6 p.m.
Eric Newcomer, School Director of YES Prep Southwest, issued the following statement:
Terry brought so much joy and enthusiasm to everything and everybody he touched. He was a leader on our campusa kid with so much potential and dreams of one day becoming a doctor. Our community is devastated by this tragedy."
