Judge Bob Wortham Stepping Down

State district Judge Bob Wortham announced Monday he is leaving office effective Monday March 17th.

Wortham announced in November he was running for Jefferson County District Attorney.

Wortham was appointed to the 60th district court by Governor Bill Clements. He was elected to the 58th district court in 2006 and has remained on the bench until now.

Wortham spoke in his chambers Monday afternoon to announce he is stepping down from the bench to concentrate on his campaign even though the law does not require him to do so.

Wortham is running for D.A. as a Democrat in November he will face Republican assistant district attorney Perry Thomas.
