Collision reported between train and vehicle

The driver of a truck carrying a load of logs is being treated at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital Monday evening after his truck collided with a train.

It happened shortly after four this afternoon at a railroad crossing on recreational road 255, just east of Highway 96 north in Jasper County.

According to state troopers, the driver of the logging truck tried to stop at the railroad crossing, but he realized  he didn't have enough air pressure in his brakes.

The truck driver told troopers he jumped out of the truck when he realized it was going to be hit by the oncoming train.

The driver is said to have non-life threatening injuries a crew had to use a large wrecker to pull the 18-wheeler out of a steep ravine.
