East Texas teen charged with killing stepfather
CARTHAGE, Texas (AP) -- An East Texas teenager has been charged in the shooting death of his stepfather during a domestic dispute.
Panola County jail records show 17-year-old Koby Yoder of Carthage was booked Thursday on a murder charge and then freed on $25,000 bond.
Sheriff's Chief Deputy John DePresca says witnesses told investigators that the stepfather, 43-year-old Leonard Digiliormo, was being violent toward the teen's mother.
DePresca says Yoder apparently retrieved a handgun and fatally shot Digiliormo during the disturbance Wednesday night at the family's home near Carthage.
Deputies found the stepfather dead at the residence. Autopsy results are pending.
Jail records do no list an attorney for Yoder. The sheriff's department did not immediately return a message Friday for further comment.
Carthage is 150 miles southeast of Dallas.
