UPDATE: Name released of man killed in lawnmover and truck collision in Beaumont
UPDATE: Beaumont Police officers have released the name of a man killed after a collision between a lawnmower and truck.
Investigators said 43-year old Vernon Boudreaux from Beaumont was driving a lawnmower in the 8300 block of the Eastex Freeway service road when a pick-up truck hit him around 8 p.m. Saturday. Officers said Boudreaux was dead when they got there.
The pick up truck came to a stop in the outside northbound lane of Highway 69. Boudreaux and the lawnmower ended up in the median between the service road and highway.
Investigators said the service road was dark and the lawnmower had no rear lights, reflectors or markers.
A judge has ordered an autopsy and the crash is under investigation. Investigators have not filed any charges.
BEAUMONT- One person is dead and another hospitalized after a lawnmower and truck collided, according to officers on the scene of the accident.
Investigators said they got the call around 8 p.m. to Eastex Freeway near Tram Rd.
Beaumont police officers on-scene said the man on the lawnmower died at the scene and paramedics took the driver of the truck to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.
Officers are diverting traffic. The service road between Lawrence Dr. and Chinn Rd. is shut down and the highway is down to one lane.
