BISD employee Jessie Haynes hasn't returned to work after workers' comp claim denied
BEAUMONT - Special assistant to the superintendent -- Jessie Haynes -- has not returned to work after her workers compensation claim was denied.
KFDM News learned one week ago that the state had denied Haynes' claim.
On August 5, Haynes was involved in an altercation with school board member Mike Neil at a board meeting.
Haynes tried to block a door to prevent journalist Jerry Jordan from entering an open meeting.
Video from a camera in the administration building shows contact between Haynes and Neil.
Haynes later claimed she was assaulted by Neil. She was charged with a Class B misdemeanor for obstruction. Haynes was arrested and posted bail.
Neil has not been charged.
The school district placed Haynes on what it calls assault leave. She's been off work, but has received her full salary since August.
According to district rules, an employee granted assault leave must first file a workers comp claim. However, Haynes did not file for workers comp until early this year, but that claim has been denied.
It was exactly one week ago when KFDM first told you about Haynes being denied workers comp.
We have tried reaching out to BISD to find out when Haynes will be returning to work. We have not heard back from the district.
