ExxonMobil hosts girls at LU to encourage careers in math, science, tech

Women hold only 14 percent of engineering jobs in the U.S, according to a report, so ExxonMobil is stepping up to encourage young ladies to think about a career as an engineer Tuesday at Lamar University.

ExxonMobil hosted 80 eighth grade girls to encourage them to envision careers in math and science and technology.

During the course of the day the girls split into four groups to experience different activities like bridge building, making lip gloss, and listening to a discussion with a panel of engineers.
