New developments in proposed water park and convention hotel

A water park and convention hotel for Ford Park, may be moving closer to reality. Commissioners approved economic incentives Monday to make the project happen.

County judge Jeff Branick says the $40 million dollar project would not put any tax dollars at risk.

A company out of Wichita, Kansas is proposing a convention hotel at Ford Park and a company from the Houston area is proposing a water park.

Branick says if the project goes forward, he hopes the water park would be ready by next spring and the hotel by the fall of 2015.

And Branick believes it could be a win-win for Southeast Texas.
Tuesday the Beaumont city council will meet to decide if it's feasible to offer any incentives to attract the hotel and water park to Ford Park.
