Pickup driver reaching for cell phone crashes into car, critically injures other driver

HARDIN COUNTY - State troopers say the driver of a pickup truck was reaching for a cell phone when he crashed into a car, critically injuring the other driver.
According to the DPS, at about 8:15 a.m. Wesdnesday there was a two vehicle crash on FM 92 near Cansler Road in Hardin County that critically injured a Silsbee woman.
The driver of a Mitsubishi 2-door vehicle was stopped northbound on FM 92 waiting to make a left turn onto Cansler Road when she was struck from behind by a Ford truck. According to the driver of the Ford, he was reaching for his cell phone when he struck the vehicle in front of him.
The driver of the Mitsubishi, 30-year-old Jami Kelly of Silsbee, was transported by medical helicopter to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth. Kelly is listed in critical condition. The driver of the Ford, 42-year-old Lloyd Tidwell of Silsbee, was not injured in the crash. Tidwell was cited for Failure to Control Speed and several other traffic violations.
