Mother, child injured in one-vehicle rollover

A mother and her 3-year-old son were injured in a one-vehicle rollover that took place at about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday on Cooks Lake Road, Trooper Stephanie Davis said.

The driver of a GMC truck, 28-year-old Heather Martin of Lumberton, fell asleep at the wheel as she traveled east on Cooks Lake Road, Davis said.

The vehicle left the road and crashed into a culvert.

Martin received non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the scene and the passenger, Martin's 3-year-old son, was flown by medical helicopter to Hermann Memorial hospital in Houston as a precautionary measure due to his current medical condition.
