A little better coverage of showers can be expected Wednesday as deeper moisture should move northward off the Gulf.  The next cold front will be in our area Friday morning with scattered showers and thunderstorms rather likely Thursday evening into Friday.  Cooler and drier air will take over this weekend.

BISD could spend up to $1 million to appeal a state take over

KFDM News - Hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars will now be spent to appeal a decision by the Texas Education Agency commissioner to take over Beaumont Independent School District.

With a 5-2 vote, board members voted Thursday to appeal the TEA's decision to send a board of managers to replace trustees and superintendent Timothy Chargois.

The BISD board voted to hire a team of lawyers to appeal the state takeover through the judicial system.

This litigation will very likely cost BISD between $500,000 and one million dollars.

Two trustees -- who did not vote to appeal the commissioner of education decision -- say that money should be spent on the district.
