KFDM learns McCraney is set to plead guilty April 14
BEAUMONT - KFDM News has learned the former BISD Chief Financial Officer is preparing to plead guilty to charges linked to what prosecutors call the embezzlement of about $4 million from the district.
In January, a federal grand jury indicted Devin McCraney, the former BISD Chief Financial Officer, and Sharika Allison, the former BISD Comptroller, on one count of conspiracy and 18 counts of fraud.
The U.S. Attorney's Office confirms to KFDM News that McCraney is scheduled to appear April 14 in Judge Ron Clark's court and enter a guilty plea. We don't know if he'll enter a plea to all charges of if some charges may be dropped as part of a plea agreement.
Allison is set for trial May 5.
Investigators say in a period of four years, the pair took about $4 million from the district.
Each could face up to 10 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.
