Program looks for teens to pledge not to text and drive

Texas has no laws banning texting while driving except in school zones and Tuesday in Lumberton law enforcement was looking for a pledge from high school students not to drive and text.

The program sponsored by Allstate is called X the Text. It's a national effort to raise awareness about the dangers of texting while driving, encouraging teens and their families to pledge not to text and drive.

At least 650 students took the pledge putting their thumb prints on cards pledging not to text and drive, much to the delight of Lumberton police chief Danny Sullins.
