Paul Trevino appointed president of Christus Health SETX
(Dallas - April 25, 2014) - From Christus Health
CHRISTUS Health announced today that Paul Trevino, 51, has been named president and chief executive officer for its Southeast Texas region, effective immediately.
Trevino has served as interim president and CEO since January, when Ellen Jones took an extended leave from the role, which she has held since 2007. She has announced her intent to retire to focus on her health after over 30 years of dedicated service in various CHRISTUS Health ministries. The organization is incredibly grateful for her leadership and the difference she has made in our facilities and the communities we serve.
"This is a time of many emotions," said Eugene Woods, CHRISTUS Health executive vice president and chief operating officer. "We are of course sad to see Ellen retire, but are also excited to welcome Paul to this role. His experience in health care, his knowledge of the CHRISTUS Health system and his understanding of the unique needs of the Southeast Texas communities make him a perfect fit," he said.
Trevino has almost 25 years of experience in the health care industry, and has spent almost 20 years serving in various leadership positions within the CHRISTUS Health system. He rejoined the CHRISTUS Health Southeast Texas region as Regional Vice President and Administrator of CHRISTUS Hospital - St. Elizabeth in 2009, and has been integral in the facilitys growth, including the recent acquisition of Beaumont Bone and Joint Hospital and the construction of a new Emergency Department for the campus.
"Paul and his team have been successful in positioning the CHRISTUS Health Southeast Texas region for sustained growth in the future so that we might continue providing high quality, compassionate care to all those who need it," said Roy Steinhagen, chair of the CHRISTUS Health Southeast Texas Board of Directors. "The board has great confidence in Pauls ability to work with the top-notch caregivers in our hospitals and clinics to continue that positive momentum."
Trevino has a bachelor of Business Administration from Corpus Christi State University and a master of Business Administration from St. Marys University in San Antonio, Texas. He currently serves as a Board Member for the Catholic Healthcare Association of Texas and a Board Member of Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas, and has served on many other distinguished community boards and committees.
