Pellet plant assess damage from fire, explosion

A plant that brings millions of dollars to the Tyler County economy is operating Tuesday while the company tries to figure out how much it will cost to repair damage from a late night fire and explosion.

No one was hurt at the German pellet plant in Woodville people at least a half mile away told KFDM News they felt the explosion at about 7:30 Monday night.

The plant opened last year on Highway 69 it makes wood pellets for shipment overseas, primarily to Europe, for use as fuel.

Fire departments from across the region responded, pouring water on a silo containing the pellets.

The plant's emergency systems helped contain the fire inside the structure.
