A dry weather pattern will continue for the next few days with below normal temperatures. In fact, scattered frost can be expected Sunday morning over the Lakes Area. A warming trend will begin early next week with a good coverage of showers and thunderstorms by the middle and later part of next week.
Sulpher police respond to fatal accident Sunday
Sulphur police officers responded to a one vehicle accident at about 6 p.m. Sunday at mile marker 23 of I-10 westbound, according to a news release. After arriving at the scene, officers found a vehicle off the road in the tree line.
The vehicle, a 2005 Honda Accord, had left the road and struck a tree, the release stated.
Witnesses stated that the vehicle was traveling west at a high rate of speed going in and out of traffic and lost control sliding sideways off the ray and into the trees, the release stated.
The driver, 55-year-old Barbara Doucet Walker of Lake Charles, was pronounced dead at the scene and was turned over to the Calcasieu Parish Coroners Office, the release stated.
The accident is still under investigation.
