KJAS Radio

A head-on crash about six miles northwest of Jasper claimed one life, and left two others injured. The crash occurred Saturday shortly before 2:00 on Highway 63 West, just east of Farm to Market Road 254 in the Peachtree Community.

According to Trooper Becky Gentry of the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 1997 Saturn sedan was westbound in the eastbound lane, and collided head-on with an eastbound 2012 Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The driver of the Saturn, 31-year-old Jason Brown, of Jasper, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford truck, 40-year-old Travis Read, of Lumberton, and his father, 67-year-old Arden Read, of Beaumont, were both transported by ambulance to Christus Jasper Memorial hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

KFDM News - In Hardin County, emergency workers transported a motorcycle driver and four children to a hospital after a crash involving a minivan and motorcyle.

The children ranged in age from five to 12. Investigators say taking the children to the hospital was a precautionary measure.

The children's mother told investigators she didn't see the motorcycle and tried to make a u-turn in front of it.

The driver of the motorcycle is in stable condition.
