Elderly man attacked at his home, his wallet stolen
ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE PRESS RELEASE
On May 8, 2014, around 2:30 p.m., the Orange County Sheriff's Office received a call from the Little Cypress Volunteer Fire Department in reference to an elderly white male who appeared to have been assaulted.
The elderly man drove himself to the fire station located at 8465 N. Hwy 87, Orange, Orange County, Texas and relayed to the personnel at the fire department that he had been assaulted at his home in the 800 block of Lawn Oak Dr., which is located in the Little Cypress area of north Orange.
When Deputies arrived, it was learned that the elderly man had just recently arrived at his home sometime around 1:30 p.m. on this date and he heard a knock at his door. When he opened the door, a black male entered the home and assaulted him in the head and face, causing swelling and knocking him unconscious.
When he regained consciousness, he discovered that his wallet was missing and the black male was gone.
Investigators with the Sheriff's Office are still gathering details from the victim, who was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
