Man accused of shooting fiance, roommate kills himself in Houston apartment
HOUSTON - by Larry Seward
A man shot his fiance and a roommate before taking his own life inside their northeast Houston apartment late Wednesday, police said.
The shootings led to a SWAT standoff in the 9300 block of FM 1960 East near W. Townsen Boulevard.
It was around 9 p.m. when officers with the Houston Police Department responded to a shooting call and found a man shot multiple times inside an apartment unit. Officers learned the man was shot in the neighboring unit where he lived with two other people.
An HPD SWAT arrived and found a second shooting victim inside the apartment. She was rescued as the suspect barricaded himself upstairs, police said.
Both victims were sent to the hospital and were expected to survive.
As officers remained stationed outside, a gunshot was heard shortly after midnight. The SWAT team forced its way in and found the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A neighbor told the media that the suspect had been suffering from mental issues for some time.
