Two people injured, two in custody in Crockett Street shooting
BEAUMONT - Two men are in custody Thursday morning following a shooting in the Crockett Street Entertainment District parking lot stemming from an argument about men throwing pennies at dancers in a club at the venue, according to information Officer Carol Riley provided to KFDM News.
Beaumont Police responded to the shooting at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Crockett Street.
The argument began when two men threw pennies and other change at dancers in the Dixie Dance Hall. The brother of one of the dancers became upset at the men throwing change at his sister and got into a confrontation with them, according to Officer Riley. They were all kicked out of the club.
The two men who had thrown the change went to their vehicle to get guns to defend themselves, said Riley, who told us they began firing into the crowd. Two people who were trying to break up the fight were hit. They were taken to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth. Their injuries aren't life threatening. Police took the two suspects into custody.
