Just a few showers and thunderstorms will be possible over the next few days due mainly to daytime heating. A much better coverage of rain can be expected Thursday into Friday as a cold front moves in from the northwest. This front will bring us cooler and drier air over the weekend.
Shrimper drowns after falling overboard
PORT ARTHUR - by Lauren Huet
The Coast Guard received a call at 5:15 p.m. Friday, reporting a crew member of a shrimp boat had fallen overboard. A spokesperson with the Coast Guard tells KFDM News the man fell overboard 50 to 60 miles off the shore of Louisiana. He became tangled in the boat's lines and nets and remained underwater about 10 minutes before crewmembers were able to pull him back aboard. The man was unresponsive and never regained consciousness.
Officials say the man is Vietnamese and in his late 50's.
The shrimp boat docked in Port Arthur, and the crewmember was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Tom Gilliam III. An autopsy has been ordered.
