Police tell KFDM News the woman was traveling north on Fourth Avenue in Port Arthur at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday when she lost control of her pickup truck. Investigators say she ran a stop sign, rolled through a business parking lot and crashed into a car in the 3100 block of Gulfway.

The impact left the pickup on its side. Police believe the boy in the pickup wasn't wearing a seat belt when he was ejected. He was taken by ambulance to Christus Hospital St. Mary where he died. A woman investigators believe is the boy's mother was taken by medical helicopter to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

We're checking on the condition of the people who were in the other car. We've been told one may have been hurt.

Police have blocked the area while they investigate the crash.
