BISD communications director Jessie Haynes returned to work Wednesday

BEAUMONT - The director of communications for the Beaumont Independent School District returned to work Wednesday after being on leave since last August.

Jessie Haynes returned to work in her role as the special assistant to the superintendent for communications.

Board member Tom Neild and BISD spokeswoman Nakisha Myles both confirmed the information to KFDM News. Myles says Haynes is earning the same salary as when she left.

Last Thursday, a jury convicted Haynes of obstructing a public passageway when she blocked a door inside the administration building.

Judge Langston Adams sentenced Haynes to two years probation and ordered her to pay a $2,000 fine. The judge also ordered her to do 100 hours of community service and to complete an anger management program as well as other other programs.

Haynes' attorney has filed an appeal.
