Man's body recovered from Village Creek identified

The body of the 20-year-old male who was recovered from Village Creek Thursday has been identified.

The victim was identified as 20-year-old Nicholas Lee White of Beaumont, Chief Deputy Kenny Davenport said.

White was swimming with his brother and some friends, and according to his brother they swam across the creek a couple of times.

When he looked back to check on his brother, it appeared that he was panicked and was struggling, Davenport said. They tried to help him, but he went down.

The call came out around 4 p.m. Thursday and the body was recovered at around 5 p.m. by the Silsbee Volunteer Fire Department.
