Just a few showers and thunderstorms will be possible over the next few days due mainly to daytime heating.  A much better coverage of rain can be expected Thursday into Friday as a cold front moves in from the northwest.  This front will bring us cooler and drier air over the weekend.

Victim's name released in Gulfway auto-pedestrian fatality

PORT ARTHUR - State troopers say Brian Chase, 35, of Rhode Island, was killed when a woman driving a truck ran over him early Monday morning while he was lying in the outside lane of Gulfway Drive.

According to the DPS, the driver of a 1994 GMC truck was traveling north on Highway 87 at about 4:30 a.m. Monday when she struck the man lying in the outside lane of Highway 87 (6200 block of Gulfway).

 

Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett pronounced the man dead.

 

The driver who struck the man wasn't hurt. She's a 26-year-old woman from Groves.

 

(Earlier story) PORT ARTHUR - Port Arthur Police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian accident on Gulfway.

Investigators say a woman driving a truck hit a pedestrian at about 4:15 a.m. Monday in the 6200 block of Gulfway Drive.

 

State troopers blocked part of the highway while they investigated the accident.
