Warrant executed on Byron Earl Bush, charged with attempted capital murder of a peace officer

Update: Wednesday, May 28, 2014:

At 5:00pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, the Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Warrant Division executed a warrant on Byron Earl Bush for Attempted Capital Murder of a Peace Officer. The warrant was issued by Justice of the Peace Dollinger as follows:

Byron Earl Bush         Age: 34           
Hometown: Beaumont, TX
Charge: Attempted Capital Murder of a Peace Officer
Bond: $500,000

Mr. Bush is still at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital recovering from the gunshot wounds received during the assault on deputies.

Other charges will be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

Update: Friday, May 23, 2014:

The suspect is currently listed in stable condition and is being treated for his injuries at Christus St. Elizabeth. The Investigation is on-going. Charges are pending the completion of the investigation.  The suspect will not be identified until after he has been charged and arraigned.

The deputies involved in the shooting are currently on administrative leave which is standard operating procedure following an officer involved shooting.

Original: May 22, 2014:

At approximately 21:23 hours, deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Detective Division were conducting a follow-up investigation at the Stone Hurst Apartment located at 1650 East Lucus, Beaumont, Texas.

The deputies were investigating a recent home invasion robbery that took place in Nome, Texas. During their investigation deputies encountered an individual that was armed with a pistol. 

A short foot pursuit occurred at which time the suspect turned and fired several rounds at the pursuing deputies. 

Deputies were forced to return fire striking the individual twice. The individual was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital by Beaumont EMS. He is currently under-going surgery for his injuries.

The investigation is on-going. The suspect is identified as a 34 year old male from Beaumont, Texas.
