Murder charge filed against man accused of fatal shooting in Jasper
JASPER - Investigators have filed a murder charge against a suspect accused of firing a shot through a screened window during an argument with another man at a home in Jasper, according to information provided to KFDM News by Jasper Police Chief Robert MacDonald.
The victim, O'Brien Parks, 19, died at a hospital.
Rodarrion Armstrong, 18, is in custody, charged with murder and awaiting arraignment. No bond has been set.
Chief MacDonald says Parks and Armstrong had argued about two months ago and witnesses said Parks cut Armstrong.
Wednesday afternoon Armstrong went to a home belonging to a relative of Parks in the 1300 block of North Bowie Street in Jasper, according to Chief MacDonald, and Parks was there. The two began arguing outside and family members got Parks to come inside. Chief MacDonald says according to witnesses, Armstrong went around to an open window covered by a screen and continued arguing with Parks, then fired a shot that hit Parks in the chest. He died at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital.
Police questioned Armstrong before taking him into custody. Chief MacDonald told us police questioned three other other men who were taken into custody on unrelated charges.
