Tom Rugg sworn in as judge for 58th Judicial District

KFDM News - Republican Tom Rugg has taken the oath as judge of the 58th Judicial District. Gov. Rick Perry appointed Rugg to the position in April.

Rugg took the oath of office Wednesday morning at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

He fills the seat left open by Bob Wortham who stepped down to run for district attorney.

Rugg will keep the position through the November General Election.

Rugg is an attorney in private practice and former civil division chief prosecutor with 27 years of service at the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office.

Democrat Kent Walston will face Rugg in November for the 58th Judicial District seat.
