Jhori Delaspour, who'll turn two on June 21, is recovering from brain injuries following the collision in which police say Dunbar crashed into her mother's car.

Delaspour is in stable condition at Texas Children's Hospital.  Delaspour's mother said the collision caused bruises to the child's brain and other injuries. Doctors tell the family Jhori should make a full recovery, but she'll have to spend several months in the hospital. They'll move her to Shriners Hospital in the near future.

The child's family was stopped at the light at 39th Street and Memorial at about 9 p.m. on Friday, May 2, when a man behind the wheel of a pickup truck ran the red light and smashed into them.

The little girl's mother says police told her the man was traveling at least 79 miles an hour.

Jhori was in her child safety seat in the rear of the car.

In her mother's words: "I thought I was dying. I remember being shaken. I remember seeing my baby unconscious. Someone took my baby out.  I got out myself."

Her mother wants to let everyone know her little girl is okay and is now off a ventilator.

Jhori will celebrate her second birthday June 21st.
