Man's name released in fatal auto-pedestrian accident near Rainbow Bridge

BRIDGE CITY - KFDM News has obtained information from the Bridge City Police Department about an auto-pedestrian accident in which a man was killed near the Rainbow Bridge.

Bridge City police say they responded to the auto-pedestrian accident at about 2:40 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 73 just south of the LaQuinta Inn.

Police say the investigation revealed Brandy Lee Purkey, 29, of Port Arthur, walked into the westbound lane of traffic and was struck by a Dodge Van and Ford pickup. Purkey was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Janice Menard. Menard ordered an autopsy.
