Family wants murder suspect back in jail

MAURICEVILLE - By Justin Hinton, KFDM News

A Louisiana family wants the man charged with murdering their loved one back in jail after he bonded out of the Newton County Jail.

The people need to be aware that this man is charged with first degree murder, said Staci Robinson.

Investigators say Robinsons sister, Tami Higginbotham, traveled from her home in Vinton, Louisiana to meet with Joshua Latham about buying a cell phone Feb. 2013.

Officers found her body one week later in a Newton County hunting club.
Latham was charged with a 1st degree felony charge of murder, and a 2nd degree felony charge of tampering with evidence.

His bond was eventually reduced allowing him to bond out of jail, something Higginbothams mother and sister cant understand.

It just doesn't make any sense. My sister is in a box right now, and he's out on the streets enjoying his family, said Staci Robinson.

They decided to pass out flyers in Mauriceville and tell people what theyve experienced.

The case has yet to go to trial, but Robinson believes Latham is guilty.

I don't want another sister to feel like what I feel. I mean, he could hurt somebody else's sister, said Robinson.
