Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue in our forecast for Tuesday with little change in temperatures.  Meanwhile, a new tropical depression has formed in the Gulf.  This depression should become a tropical depression Tuesday with landfall near Tampico, Mexico early Wednesday.

Update: 9 students checked out at hospital after driver runs into back of PAISD bus

9AM UPDATE - Dr. Mark Porterie, PAISD Superintendent, tells KFDM News that nine students were taken to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas for evaluation.  They were heading to Lincoln Middle School when a vehicle ran into the back of the bus shortly after 8 a.m. on Highway 73. He says there are no serious injuries.

Dr. Porterie says bus #82 was stopped near the railroad tracks at Highway 82 when the vehicle ran into the rear of the bus.

Dr. Porterie says another bus went to the scene to pick up the rest of the students and take them to school.

 

(EARLIER REPORT) PORT ARTHUR - First responders are on the scene of an accident involving a Port Arthur ISD bus, and early reports indicate there are no serious injuries to students, according to information the superintendent, Dr. Mark Porterie, provided to KFDM News. 

Capt. Troy Irvine with PAFD tells KFDM News as of 9 a.m. no students had been transported and there were no serious injuries. There were seven Acadian ambulances on the scene.

The bus was hit shortly after 8 a.m. on Highway 73 in Port Arthur.

Dr. Porterie says a driver ran into the rear of the bus. The district's director of transportation is heading to the scene. Porterie says early word from the scene indicates there are no serious injuries to students.
