Another hot start for the coast and the lakes. With moisture in place, we could see a repeat of the isolated showers and t-storms as we saw yesterday. Highs today will again reach the lower 90's. By Friday and through the weekend, we will see the moisture out and hot temps on the rise. Look for mid and upper 90's by Sunday and Monday.
Port Neches homeowner fires shot at burglar
PORT NECHES - A Port Neches homeowner fired a shot at a suspected burglar police say may be linked to other recent burglaries and attempted burglaries. The crime has led to extra security at nearby Ridgewood Elementary, although police say there is no danger to students.

According to Port Neches Police, at 4:37 a.m. Wednesday, officers were sent to the 700 block of Bella Vita Drive for a possible burglary in progress. Officers discovered that a homeowner had contact with a man involved in a burglary. The homeowner chased the man around his property and eventually fired one shot at the intruder.
The man was last seen running across Merriman Street toward Miller Street. A K-9 from Port Arthur PD tracked the burglar to an area near East Kitchen and Miller where investigators believe the man have have left in a vehicle.
Investigators believe the intruder was unharmed and is possibly the same man involved in similar burglaries in the area in the past two months.
This intruder is described as a white or Hispanic man, 6' to 6'1", thin build, wearing a dark colored hoodie and dark pants.
Investigators have surveillance video of a man from other recent burglaries and attempted burglaries in the area and they believe it is the same person. Since this burglary, officers have responded to another burglary in the Thomas Haven subdivision and a similar incident in the River Oaks subdivision. This is all within a half mile radius of Bella Vita Drive.
This particular incident occurred near Ridgewood Elementary school. As a precautionary measure, additional officers were placed at the school this morning, but police do not believe there is any danger to the students or staff.
