Jury finds man guilty of murder

JEFFERSON COUNTY - A jury has found a man guilty of an August, 2011 Port Arthur murder.

The jury in Judge Lindsey Scott's court found Joshua Thomas guilty Wednesday afternoon.

The District Attorney's Office says according to offense reports, on August 6, 2011, Thomas shot Michael Walker at a home on 12th Street in Port Arthur. Prosecutors say Walker had assaulted Thomas' aunt, and Thomas had gone to the residence to retaliate.  According to investigators, Walker and Thomas' aunt were in a relationship.

Sentencing begins Thursday. Thomas faces up to life in prison. He isn't eligible for parole.
