Two people arrested following Crockett Street shooting
Two men were booked into the Jefferson County Jail in connection with an early morning shooting Thursday in the 200 block of Crockett Street, according to the Beaumont Police Department.
Officers responded to a possible shooting at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday and found two shooting victims, a 21-year-old Kountze man and a 25-year-old Beaumont man.
Two men, 24-year-old Justin Mottox of Beaumont and 24-year-old Troy Thibodeaux of Beaumont, were inside Dixie Dance hall and got into a disturbance with a 21-year-old Kirbyville woman, according to witnesses at the scene.
She was dancing on the bar with three other women when the two men threw change at them, leading to a verbal and then physical confrontation, BPD stated.
The brother of one of the women got into an altercation with the two men, although several people tried to keep the brother from fighting with them, BPD stated.
The altercation continued into the parking lot and the two men were able to get guns from their vehicle and began shooting toward the brother, BPD stated.
The two men who were shot were reportedly trying to keep the brother from fighting and both of them were transported to the hospital and are in stable condition, BPD stated.
Mottox and Thibodeaux were transported to the police department to speak with detectives and were then taken to the Jefferson County Jail where they were each booked in on two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, BPD stated.
