Fannett man dies after lawn mower flips on top of him

Subject: Suspected Drowning         
Date: June 28, 2014

On Saturday, June 28, 2014, at approximately 11:30 am the Jefferson County Sherriffs Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a possible drowning in the 22000 block of Hwy. 365 in Fannett, Texas.

Upon arrival deputies were advised that an 80 year old male resident was mowing the grass on a zero turn radius lawn mower around the pond on his property when the lawn mower entered the water and over turned pinning the resident.

Medics from the Labelle Fannett VFD arrived on scene and attempted to resuscitate the resident with no success.

Justice of the Peace Ray Chesson arrived on scene and pronounced the resident deceased. Justice of the Peace Chesson ordered an autopsy.

The investigation is on-going. The name of the resident is being with-held to allow for the notification of family.
